Motor Trend has a penchant for putting on high-horsepower drag races. This year it gathered nine Best Driver's Car contenders with 4730 horsepower and a price tag of over $1.1 million and held the World's Greatest Drag Race 2.
Last year, the World's Greatest Drag Race featured 11 high-performance cars at the former Marine Corps Air Station El Toro to see which car was fastest in a straight line. This year's drag race is no different, with Motor Trend's nine 2012 Best Driver's Car contenders lined up on the very same airfield for a shot at YouTube glory.
The contenders for the World's Greatest Drag Race 2 are more diverse than ever before. The most powerful (and expensive) car here is the 691-hp all-wheel drive Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4. The least powerful (and cheapest) vehicle here is the 200-hp rear-drive Subaru BRZ. The rest of the field is filled by drag race favorites like the Nissan GT-R (which destroyed the competition in last year's race), the 662-hp Ford Shelby GT500, the 592-hp McLaren MP4-12C, and the 580-hp Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The field is completed by the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series, the Jaguar XKR-S, and the winner of Best Driver's Car 2012, the Porsche 911 Carrera S.
