Detroit 2011: Volvo C30 Electric Crash Tested

#Volvo, #C30

True to form, Volvo has made sure to stay at the top of its game when it comes to safety. Volvo has crash tested its C30 Electric to show that it is equally as safe as its gasoline powered counterpart. This should come as no surprise to anyone who knows Volvo. Volvo made sure to keep the battery components away from the crumple zones and within the frame of the car, while structural beams around the battery have been reinforced. The sensor that triggers the airbags also cuts power to the batteries in 50 milliseconds. Volvo will be introducing a plug-in hybrid in Europe in 2012 mating diesel with electric powertrains. Later this year it will begin testing a fleet of C30 Electric vehicles in the US.
