Deal Sealed: Audi and Ducati Finalized Purchase, Appoints new Executive Roles

Ducati’s Claudio Domenicali also joins the board, along with Audi’s Horst Glaser and Axel Strotbek. Audi acquired Ducati a few months ago for an estimated price tag of $1.3 billion (Audi hasn’t disclosed the official amount). Audi and its parent Volkswagen Group hopes to integrate Ducati’s lightweight body construction techniques, while the Italian motorcycle maker should benefit from the automaker’s mass-production expertise.

Ducati previously teamed up with AMG, which was essentially a marketing deal to usher in drivers of fast cars who also like fast motorcycles, and vice versa. Not surprisingly, Mercedes-Benz severed its relationship with Ducati shortly after Audi entered the picture.

In other Audi news, the automaker has revealed that the 2013 A7 four-door hatchback will offer a five-passenger seating arrangement, like the not-for-U.S. Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake.
