Cracked Transmission Hose Prompts Subaru to Recall 29,443 Legacys and Outbacks

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has received notification that Subaru will recall 29,443 Subaru Legacys and Outbacks, all from the 2010 model year.

The recall relates to a transmission cooling hose on the vehicles' CVT that could crack and leak fluid. CVTs without proper cooling are more at risk to break, leading to an even bigger problem.

The affected Legacy and Outbacks were manufactured from July 31 to December 1, 2009. Owners with defective cooling hoses will receive a new one from Subaru free of charge.

Subaru’s recall campaign number for this issue is WVQ-27, while the NHTSA has assigned it ID number 10V196000. Subaru may be contacted at 856-488-8500 for owners with additional questions. The NHTSA can be reached at 888-327-4236 or on the Web at www.safercar.gov.
