Coming To A Car Club Near You: Chrysler Announces SRT High Performance Tour

There’s nothing quite like the great American road trip, and there’s no better way to do it than with a big honking American V-8 perched under the hood of your car. It seems as if no one knows that better than Chrysler, who has recently announced its SRT division will be taking a three month long tour of the United States in all four new SRT vehicles, stopping at both scheduled SRT stops, as well as stops at grassroots clubs and organizations.

Like last year’s Hemi Highway event, in which a 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 and the (non-SRT) 2011 Charger R/T cruised around the US, stopping at different events to show off Dodge’s performance-orientated vehicles, this year’s SRT High Performance Tour will do much of the same thing. This year however, Chrysler’s SRT contribution has increased by a significant margin. The 2011 SRT High Performance Tour will feature a 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8, a 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392, a 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 and a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, which will also be towing an SRT-branded trailer -- no doubt full of spare tires for the group.

While the SRT High Performance Tour is set to start at Chrysler’s headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan, next month and end at the SEMA show in Las Vegas come November, what happens in between those points is left up to you. Chrysler has left roughly 50 percent of its tour itinerary open to suggestions, potentially allowing the group to swing by grassroots events like car club meets, race days, charity events, and local auto shows.

Interested in throwing your hat in the ring? All you have to do is fill out a short form and submit a brief 100-word essay explaining why the SRT High Performance Tour should come to you. Here's hoping they do just that.

Our club, the Tucson Mopar Club, is a group of 200 members that own a collection of classic Mopars and many Modern Mopar Muscle cars. We show our cars all over Southern Arizona and have Tucson Dodge as our major sponsor. Collectively, we are winning awards for our cars at every show we enter, and represent the Dodge, Mopar and SRT brands all over the state. We hosted a stop of the Hemi Highway Tour last year which was a great success. We also have a great reputation and would be proud to host a stop on the SRT Tour. If you decide to come to Tucson, we'll put on a great show!
