Chrysler Pledges $100 To Charity for Each New Car Sold in Metro Detroit

Call it an early Christmas present: the Chrysler Group says it will donate $100 to the United Way for each Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, and Fiat sold through the end of the month.

Chrysler is attaching the charity program to its typical December sales event, "Big Finish 2012," and forking over the money for each and every Chrysler Group vehicle sold at 42 participating metro Detroit dealers between now and the end of the event (which runs until December 31). Chrysler says it sold some 5203 vehicles in the Detroit metro area during December last year, so a good showing this year would have Chrysler Group giving some $520,000 to the United Way.

Credit Chrysler Group chairman Sergio Marchionne for the efforts: he's the chairman of this year's United Way for Southeastern Michigan community giving campaign, and kicked off this year's giving campaign back in September. Chrysler has also partnered with the UAW and the United Way before to stock food bank shelves and raise awareness about summer free lunch programs for kids.
