Chrysler Introduces ‘Minivan Pledge' Sales Program

In a move similar to General Motors’ 60-day money-back guarantee program, Chrysler introduced its “Minivan Pledge” today. The minivan pledge allows consumers to trade in a competing vehicle for the purchase of a new 2010 Chrysler Town & Country or Dodge Grand Caravan and return the vehicle within 60 days if unsatisfied.

“The Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country have been purchased by more customers than any other minivan, and we want new buyers to see why,” said Fred Diaz, president and CEO of Ram and lead executive of Chrysler Group sales. “Roughly 67 percent of our minivan buyers are previous owners, and the Chrysler Town & Country has won the R.L. Polk Owner Loyalty award in the minivan category nine years in a row. That’s a testimonial that is earned by building the best minivan year in and year out.”

Under the Minivan pledge, customers can trade in a competitors’ vehicle towards the purchase price of a new Chrysler or Dodge minivan. The customer then has 60 days from the date of purchase to return the vehicle if at all unsatisfied. However, customers won't get their trade-in vehicle back. Instead of their old vehicle, the customer will get the purchase price of the new vehicle less tax and registration back in cash. Of course, as the vehicle was likely financed, this will pay off the car loan the owner no longer wants, so it’s not “free money.”

Chrysler’s “Minivan Pledge” starts today and runs until March 31.
