It got no love at last month's Detroit auto show, but next week in Chicago, the 2013 Dodge Challenger will gain a new Redline appearance package for R/T models. Dodge already launched a Redline pack for the V-6-powered Challenger Rallye last year, and is now expanding the treatment to the V-8-powered R/T trim levels.

The Dodge Challenger R/T Redline consists primarily of aesthetic modifications. The car is available in silver, Granite Crystal, white, and black, with special black and red stripes running the length of the car. Twenty-inch black-chrome wheels have a "Redline" accent lip, and the front grille surround is body-colored.

The Redline treatment also includes Dodge's Super Track package with 20-inch high-performance tires, higher-friction brake pads, and a lowered suspension. The car is offered either with a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic. Choosing the former nets 375 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque from the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8; picking the automatic drops power ratings to 372 hp and 400 lb-ft. The automatic, however, gains a Mopar T-handle shifter and sports pedals that aren't offered on the Redline manual.

Buyers can also opt for a Challenger R/T Plus Redline, bringing a little more standard equipment. The Plus model adds Nappa leather upholstery, heated front seats, a 276-watt Boston Acoustics sound system, rear parking sensors, heated mirrors, and an enhanced trip computer.

Both version of the 2013 Dodge Challenger R/T Redline can be ordered now and will reach dealerships by April. The package itself costs $1995, so a Challenger R/T Redline starts at $32,985 (after a $995 destination charge) and a Challenger R/T Plus Redline costs $34,985.
