Chicago 2012: Five Axis Lexus GS F Sport Shipped Straight From SEMA

The four Lexus LFA supercars posed on Lexus’ 2012 Chicago Auto Show display are neat, but they’re not the only piece of wild machinery to grace the automaker’s display. Lexus also brought along the Five Axis Project GS F Sport concept, which officially debuted at last year’s SEMA show.

On paper, Five Axis’ modifications – including a widebody kit and massive 20-inch wheels (which are almost 10 inches wide) – seem a little overkill, but in person, they do an impressive job of making the new 2013 GS sedan look even more intimidating. A brake upgrade fits 15-inch rotors and six-piston calipers up front, along with 14-inch rotors and four-piston calipers out in back, while FiveAxis also bolted on a bespoke exhaust system.

Inside, the GS F Sport receives an extensive audio system makeover from Pioneer: along with one DEX-P99RS head unit, the system uses two 400-watt, four-channel amplifiers; two 1200-watt mono amplifiers; and two 10” subwoofers. Nifty stuff, but the cosmetic enhancements inside are equally interesting. Lexus mentions “unique silver textured accents,” but fails to mention that incorporates more than just brushed metal accent trim: even the seats are covered in an unusual woven silver fabric that both looks and feels a little like brushed metal.
