If you watched Kia's Super Bowl ad spot and managed to ignore Motley Crue and the flag-waving supermodel, there's a chance you managed to pick up on the fact the automaker is adding a new model to the Optima portfolio. That model is the 2012 Optima Limited, and it makes its official debut this week at the 2012 Chicago auto show.
According to Kia, the Limited treatment takes the already-well-equipped Optima SX model and dresses it up a little bit. Externally, the Optima gains mesh upper and lower grille inserts, thin LED driving lights inserted above the fog lamps, and chromed accents on door sill moldings and the rear spoiler. Chrome is also applied liberally to new five-spoke 18-inch wheels, which also frame red-painted brake front brake calipers.
Inside, the Optima Limited receives wood accents for the steering wheel, door trim, and shift knob. Nappa leather -- your choice of white or black -- is used for seating, but also lines the door panels, instrument panel, and center console lid. Black tricot fabric is used for both the headliner and pillar trim.
As it's based off the SX, the Optima Limited also lumps in niceties including HID headlamps, metal door panels, panoramic sunroof, heated/cooled front seats, heated rear seats, navigation, and an Infiniti audio system. Optima SX models also use the turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4, produces 274 hp, along with a stiffer suspension setup than other Optima trims.
