Chevrolet revealed the 2014 Silverado Volunteer Firefighter and Silverado Black Ops Concepts at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas to showcase the pickups customizability.
2014 Chevrolet Silverado Volunteer Firefighter Concept
Chevrolet says the Silverado Volunteer Firefighter honors the service of grassroots first responders. Based on a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 Double Cab, the Volunteer Firefighter concept was designed with input from the National Volunteer Fire Council. About 90 percent of U.S. fire departments and 75 percent of fire departments are made up of volunteers, according to Chevrolet.
“We wanted to pay tribute to these important men and women in communities everywhere,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing, in a release. “They are the kind of hard-working Americans for whom we design and build the Silverado, making sure it delivers the capability and dependability they expect.”
The concept features red and silver paint with custom graphics, custom-finish 22-inch alloys wheels, chrome step bars, chrome door handles and mirror caps, a hood protector, corner step rear bumper, cantilever cab-over TracRac, and billet aluminum grille guard and bed rails. Emergency pieces include a roof light bar and LED perimeter lighting, siren and PA system, tool box, chrome fire extinguishers, and an axe and Halligan tool. Inside, the front seats feature reflective bolsters, Torch Red stitching, and chrome trim.
2014 Chevrolet Silverado Black Ops Concept
The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Black Ops pickup concept is designed to take on anything from hurricanes to other unforeseen emergency, Chevrolet says. Based on the Silverado Crew Cab 4x4, the Black Ops concept features custom lower body armor, front-mount winch with a custom cover featuring LED spot light and integrated tow hooks. The Silverado Black Ops concept features a raised suspension for additional ground clearance.
Around back, a lockable, Truck Vault storage unit is mounted in the bed and holds a solar power pack, a pair of gas masks, gloves, a military First Aid Kit, folding shovel, and rope. A generator, fuel and water cans, and a crate of food are mounted in the bed above the storage unit.
Other exterior features include custom bed rails, bolt-on fender flares, tubular step bars, corner step rear bumpers, custom-finish Z71 18-inch alloy wheels, and a light bridge equipped with forward- and rearward-facing light bars. Inside, the Silverado Black Ops concept features yellow trim to complement the custom black seats with yellow piping.
“Luck favors the prepared and the Silverado Black Ops concept is a survival kit on four wheels,” said Chevrolet design manager Dave Ross, in a release. “This concept truck showcases the stronger, smarter and more capable elements of the 2014 Silverado and how accessories can enhance them to suit any lifestyle.”
