Chevrolet Rolls Into SEMA With Two Custom 2011 Silverado HDs

Chevrolet may be pushing its Camaro and Corvette models into the limelight at the 2010 Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas, but that doesn't mean the automaker has forgotten its full-size pickup range. In fact, Chevy's bringing a pair of tarted-up Silverados to the show to help showcase its revised 2011 Silverado HD line.

Although the Z71 package is designed to improve a truck's off-road performance, the Silverado 2500HD Z71 show truck isn't exactly the off-road plaything that Ford's F-150 SVT Raptor is. Instead, Chevrolet suggests this concept "demonstrates the personalization possibilities of the new HD lineup." To that extent, the truck wears a satin Switchblade Silver paint, along with massive Z71 body-side graphics inspired in part by those used on C/K pickups from the late 1980s. Designers painted the chrome grille in a matching silver paint, while spraying both the 20-inch wheels and side running bars in Corvette Competition Gray. Inside, the truck is treated to a dark titanium leather interior, along with an accessory trim plate kit, dual DVD screens embedded into the front seat headrests, and an Autonet mobile wi-fi hotspot.

To illustrate the towing capability of its larger Silverado 3500HD range, Chevy built another concept truck, which it dubs the Race Car Hauler. Built from a crew-cab 3500HD dually, the Race Car Hauler is dressed up with exterior graphics reminiscent of those used on both the Camaro SS X and Corvette Z06X concepts. Other touches include custom grill inserts and hood louvers, 17-inch chrome wheels, custom box steps, body-color splash guards, and ebony leather seating with color stitching and piping.

As is the case with most SEMA vehicles, these two Silverados aren't exactly forebears of actual production models, but rather a preview of what can be built with from the automaker's accessory parts catalog. Expect a number of these accessories to make their way to a dealer catalog near you shortly.
