After mysteriously appearing on the streets of Los Angeles last week, a convertible version of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Concept has turned up again in the City of Angels, and now it's been identified.
As we and many of you at home guessed, what was spotted out in California was one of the stars of the next Transformers movie. A local with a video camera has captured the Corvette named Sideswipe, the Camaro named Bumblebee and what appears to be a Ferrari 458 Italia shooting a scene for Transformers 3 in downtown Los Angeles and uploaded the clip to YouTube, thus settling the debate.
The car captured on the streets appears to be GM's Corvette Stingray Concept reworked into an open-top roadster. In addition to losing the roof, the car has also picked up new air intakes on the hood, new wheels, scissor doors and a revised front fascia. It's unknown at this point if the actual Corvette Stingray Concept was cut up to build this car or whether this is an entirely new car built for the movie.
Barring any further spy shots, we should find out for certain next year when Transformers 3 hits the big screen on July 1, 2011. Like the original Corvette Stingray Concept, though, we could see this new car debut at an auto show before its silver screen debut, so stay tuned.
