Starting late spring, Chevrolet Camaro fans in the UK can officially buy a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro from their local dealer. Apparently there is no love (or it isn’t cost effective) for the V-6 models, as all cars will be powered by a 6.2-liter V-8 (LS3 for manual cars and L99 for automatics). The Camaro will reach 62 mph in 5.2-5.6 seconds depending on body style and transmission. Top speed will be governed at 155 mph.
Manual-equipped Chevrolet Camaro Coupes will start at £34,995 and the convertible at £39,995, or about $54,870 and $62,700, respectively. The six-speed automatic is available for an additional £1500 or $2350. Chevrolet UK dealerships will also be selling 2012 Chevrolet Camaro 45th Anniversary Edition for a limited time.
The Chevrolet Camaro 45th Anniversary model comes in the same Carbon Flash Black with red and silver anniversary stripes, dark silver 20-inch alloy wheels and 45th anniversary leather interior with red, white and blue stitching and a one-off white-backed instrument panel as the U.S. version. To add further to the Yankee mystique, all Camaros officially sold by Chevrolet in the UK will be left-hand drive.
Manual-equipped 45th Anniversary cars start at £36,495 (about $57,260) and £41,495 (about $65,100) for the Coupe and the Convertible, respectively. UK Chevrolet dealerships are taking preorders for the late Spring arrival. Chevrolet invites those in the UK interested in the Camaro to visit a dealer or its website www.chevrolet.co.uk/cars/camaro/
