While Jaguar has yet to confirm an R-S variant of the new F-Type, these latest photos suggest that one could be on the way. While we don't know what's under the hood of this Jaguar F-Type coupe tester, it's sporting a few R-S-like components.
The biggest hint as to the performance on tape from this Jaguar is found beyond the blacked-out rims where we find bright yellow brake calipers (badged as "Jaguar Carbon Ceramic") and cross-drilled rotors.
In fact, the brake system is similar to the 2014 XKR-S GT,the limited edition, track-focused coupe that Jaguar unleashed this year.
Like all recent R-S models, this Jaguar F-Type coupe is likely packing well over 500 hp under the hood. The convertible F-Type V8 S model already makes 488-hp from its 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 and accelerates from 0-60 mph in a little over four seconds. That car carries a base price of $92,895, so expect the an R-S version of the Jaguar F-Type coupe to cost close to or at the six-figure mark with a low production run of a few hundred units per year, though that could increase given that demand for the F-Type has exceeded Jaguar's predictions.
That said, the introduction of an F-Type R-S would only further boost the automaker's sporting image. Jaguar recently launched the XFR-S, the automaker's fastest sedan ever thanks to its 550-hp supercharged V-8 that propels the four-door from 0-60 mph in just over four seconds.
