With all of the recent withdraws from the Detroit auto show, there was some prime real estate up for grabs on the main floor of Cobo Center. It was announced today that Chinese automakers BYD Auto Co. and Brilliance Jinbei Automotive Co. will be moving in to the 11,000 square foot space Mitsubishi occupied in 2008.
In recent years, the Chinese Automakers' exhibits could only be found out in the lobby or downstairs in Michigan Hall. Although, BYD and Brilliance do not currently sell vehicles in the United States, both companies were thrilled to take a place on the main floor for the first time.
Mitsubishi is among five other automakers that have dropped out of the 2009 North American International Auto Show.
