Scion is offering a neat opportunity to the first people to buy its new iQ micro-hatchback. Anyone who buys or leases a Scion iQ between May 1 and July 31 can receive a free PlayStation Vita handheld video game system.
The tie-up between the world's smallest four-seater car and the gaming device comes about in part because the Scion iQ was included as a playable car in the PlayStation Vita game MotorStorm RC. The Vita has a five-inch touch screen and two cameras; the Scion iQ has 11 standard airbags and a 94-hp, 1.3-liter inline-four engine.
If the video game promotion doesn't interest you in buying a Scion iQ, perhaps the hatchback's miniscule 120.1-inch length will. As seen in Scion's unique "Park!" online videos, embedded below, the Scion iQ is extremely easy to park in busy urban environments. That ability owes in part to the Scion's dainty 12.9-foot turning circle.
This isn't the only marketing ploy that has early buyers of a new car scoring a tech gadget: earlier today Ford revealed that the first buyers of its 2013 Focus ST hot hatchback will get a free GoPro HD Hero2 Motorsports Edition video camera.
Pricing for the Scion iQ starts at $15,995 (after a $730 destination charge), while the PlayStation Vita retails for $299.99. One word of warning: don't use this promotion to play video games while driving your new Scion.
