Chevrolet is ready to celebrate this week’s release of Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon with a special-edition Camaro coupe. The fifth-generation Camaro will again star as “Bumblebee” in the latest Transformers installment, and Chevrolet is now ready to send a 2012 Transformers Edition Camaro special edition to dealers nationwide.
The Transformers Edition package lumpsinthe HID headlights, dark taillights, and body-color roof trimfound in the RS appearance package, along with the requisite Rally Yellow paint and black rally stripes used on the shape-shifting robotic alien in the movie. The special edition will receives a bespoke high-wing rear spoiler, 20-inch black-painted wheels with high-performance summer tires, and “Autobot” logos on the front quarter panels and wheel centers.
Inside, Bumblebee Camarosare dressed with black leather seatingand yellow highlight stitching, and Autobot logos on the center console and headrests. Buyers can spring for two options, but neither dresses up the interior: those desiring a little extra cosmetic flair can shell out a little extra cash for both a black ground-effects package and 21-inch black-painted wheels.
The Transformers Edition package will cost $3000, and will be available on the Camaro Coupe for either the 2LT or 2SS trim levels. The special-edition model will be available to order starting in July for customers in the U.S., Canada, China, Japan, Europe, South America, and the Middle East.
