Having shown us the car and detailed its powertrain and equipment, Honda will now let prospective buyers configure their ideal 2013 Accord sedan online. The automaker's website now features a build-your-own tool that lets users design an Accord sedan with the trim level, wheels, colors, and options they most desire.
For now only the 2013 Honda Accord sedan is available in the online configuration tool, meaning those who are interested in a coupe will have to wait. And the upcoming Accord plug-in hybrid won't be shown online until closer to its on-sale date next year. Otherwise, though, the tool is a comprehensive guide to the many ways buyers can equip the new Accord sedan.
Buyers who want the 185-189-hp, 2.4-liter inline-four engine have a choice of five different trim levels. The Accord LX starts at $22,470 after destination, the Sport trim costs $24,180, the Accord EX is $25,395, upgrading to the EX-L trim costs $28,785, and the Accord EX-L with navigation just barely crests the $30K mark at $30,785. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on the LX, Sport, and EX models; adding a continuously variable transmission costs an extra $800.
The 278-hp 3.5-liter V-6 engine with its six-speed automatic is offered only in three trim levels. The 2013 Honda Accord EX-L V-6 starts at $30,860, the Accord EX-L V-6 with navigation costs $32,860, and the Touring trim level is $34,320.
One interesting revelation is that not all paint choices will be offered on every version of the Accord. The Accord LX, for instance, can only be painted Modern Steel or Alabaster Steel, while the Accord Touring offers five different exterior colors and the EX trim level has eight potential colors.
The configurator tool also reveals a long list of optional accessories for all versions of the Accord, including a remote engine starter, trunk cargo hooks, rear parking sensors, new spoilers, and other exterior body add-ons. According to the tool, adding every available accessory to the Accord Touring brings the fully-loaded sedan's price to $41,223.
The 2013 Honda Accord sedan reaches showrooms today, while the 2013 Honda Accord coupe will be available from October 15. Click here to build your own Accord sedan.
