BMW X4 Reportedly Under Reconsideration

With the global economy on the rise, consumers dusting off their checkbooks, and sales of the X6 exceeding original forecasts, BMW is reportedly reconsidering an X4 crossover for its lineup.

As the nomenclature indicates, the X4 would slot between the X3 and X5. The X4 would likely be based on the X3 but wrapped in sheetmetal more akin to the X6 Sports Activity Coupe, essentially creating a smaller version of it. It may also draw design cues from BMW's X Coupe concept, a sporty-looking two-door ’ute that first bowed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit back in 2001.
