BMW’s design house, DesignworksUSA, has teamed up with Brazilian yacht-maker Intermarine to create the pinnacle in luxury boating: the Intermarine 55.
At 57 feet long, the 55 seats seven people and includes a galley, a salon, three cabins, and two bathrooms. DesignworksUSA has given the yacht’s exteriora sleek, bullet-like shape, with large arching windows providing an expansive view of the surrounding waters.Traditional circular portholes on the hull have been replaced by large trapezoidal windows, providing natural lighting for the cabins. A sweeping character line runs from bow to stern, almost a mirror image to the flame-surfaced character line running across the top of the doors on the 2002 BMW Z4. Stainless steel air intakes and railings accent the white body throughout the exterior of the yacht.
Inside, the 55’s designers aimed for the theme of “open horizons.” The large exterior windows help to bring in light and provide a feeling of space, while giving an uninhibited view of the horizon line. At the stern of the boat, the salon’s three glass doors open to the deck, allowing the exterior and interior spaces to blend together.
The first Intermarine 55 will set sail this July and will initially be offered to customers in Brazil, with worldwide availability by the end of 2011. Pricing hasn’t been disclosed, but rest assured, if you need to ask…
