Bentley, Linley Partner on 10 Special-Edition Cars for China

The Bentley Continental Flying Spur is already one luxurious machine, but the new Linley special edition model, offered exclusively to the Chinese market, promises to push the envelope even further.

These ten -- yes, ten -- Flying Spurs will not receive any exterior modifications. Instead, Bentley will team up with British design houseLinley to remodel the interiors. Seeing as Linely is famous for its bespoke woodwork, the hallmark of these particular cars is the wood trim. Linely is responsible for hand-crafting every piece of veneer, including the rear-seat picnic tables , windowsills, and rear console -- the latter containing a bespoke wood humidor.

The Flying Spur’s treadplates also feature the Linley logo, and all ten cars receive a rhodium-plated plaque (think white gold, only brighter and more expensive) in the glove box to signify that they’re truly something special. You’ll find another surprise within the trunk itself: a Linley leather goodie bag, filled with things like leather luggage tags and a cashmere blanket.

Pricing on the model hasn’t yet been announced, but we’d expect the special edition package to push the Flying Spur’s cost to well above $200,000.

This isn’t the first custom Flying Spur Bentley’s made exclusively for the China; a custom Flying Spur Speed and Continental were crafted for the market last year. It’s easy to see why Bentley’s interested in catering to luxury buyers in the country, though -- we’ve heard that nearly a quarter of all Bentleys sold in the first quarter of 2011 were sent from England to China.
