With 451 horsepower on tap (or 520, if you opt for one of the European DR520 models), it's really hard to convincingly argue that Mercedes-Benz's C63 AMG sports sedan is short on power. Still, it appears as if the folks in Affalterbach are busy working on an even more hardcore variant.
The spy photographers at Motor Trend recently caught what appears to be a wild C63 mule undergoing testing in Germany. According to their sources, this extra-hot number is a new Black Series variant of the next-generation C63 AMG. Obviously, the largest difference between this tester and a stock C63 AMG lies with the fender flares. Although these particular parts are simply grafted on for testing, it's likely that AMG is considering adding some substantial draw to the fender stampings, much as it did when preparing the CLK63 AMG Black Series and the SL65 AMG Black Series. The car also reportedly receives a modified front fascia, which may incorporate a front splitter patterned after those used on the company's F1 cars. So, what lies under the hood? MT claims it's a modified 6.2-liter V-8 tuned to nearly 510 horsepower -- all of which is sent through a seven-speed MCT automatic to the rear wheels. Sounds wunderbar to us...
