Automobile’s Top 10 Most Viewed Feature Stories for 2010

Our website has grown immensely over the past year thanks to our loyal following and new visitors. We know you most likely haven’t had the time to read every article we’ve published, so we’ve compiled the top ten most popular feature stories based on page views. While some may be a dead giveaway, other popular stories may be quite a surprise.

10. First Drive: 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour

Honda’s Accord Crosstour didn’t receive the warmest of welcomes when it was first unveiled on Facebook in late 2009, but the crossover has been rather successful for the Japanese automaker. Sharing some 60 percent of its parts content with the Accord sedan, the Crosstour drives and feels strikingly similar to its smaller sibling. Its high seating position and available all-wheel drive make the crossover a candidate for those in the market for one of Honda’s larger offerings.

9. 2011 Automobile of the Year Finalists

Each fall, we gather all the latest vehicles in one place to determine our picks for Automobile of the Year. With dozens of vehicles eligible -- some more impressive than others -- we narrowed down the field to just ten finalists. Click here to find out more about our selection process and the ten vehicles we deemed finalists for our annual award.

8. On Patrol in a 2010 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor

The Ford F-150 SVT Raptor is by far one of the most capable and powerful vehicles able to tackle off-road terrain straight from the showroom floor. That being the case, the Raptor makes an interesting proposition for use by law enforcement in the southwest United States. Earlier this year, we joined the Yuma County Sherriff’s Department for a few days to experience Ford’s new beast on patrol in the desert, helping to protect America’s borders.

7. Best Four-Door Family-Oriented Sports Cars

Sure the ultimate sports car in most people’s minds is a high power coupe that only needs two seats, but that’s not very practical for most of us. We rounded up five of the best four-door sports cars currently on the market for nearly any budget.

6. 2011 Automobile Magazine All-Stars

Our annual All-Star list is comprised of ten vehicles we determine to be the best on the road today. This year, a few old favorites remain on the list, while some new vehicles impressed us enough to earn the award.

5. 2011 Volkswagen New Beetle – New New Beetle

Not much changed with the New Volkswagen Beetle over its 12-year run, but the next generation bug is just months from entering production and is a welcomed change from the outgoing model. We took a close look at what VW has in store for the next-generation Beetle, and with its new design and added interior volume, the old favorite is sure to make waves when it’s reintroduced come early 2011.

4. 2010 Sneak Preview

Vehicles on the road today are old news to some people. To address that, we’ve rounded up what’s to come. We compiled a list of over 100 vehicles not yet available, and added as many details about each of them as we could round up. Click here for the extensive list.

3. AWD Vehicles -- Winter Wondercars

Sure most, if not all, SUVs and crossovers offer all-wheel drive, but more sedans and coupes are available with the feature than you may think. We gathered a list of all the AWD vehicles that aren’t classified as a truck or SUV for your reading pleasure. For an updated list of vehicles that meet our criteria for 2011, click here.

2. Eight Vehicles You Probably Didn’t Know You Could Still Buy New

We scoured the web looking for vehicles that have been out of production for some time, but are strangely still available at dealerships in the new cars section. The best example at the time the story was published was the Pontiac Grand Prix, for which production ended in November 2008. Earlier this year -- 14 months after going out of production -- a single 2008 model was sold as new to a customer, who hopefully got a stellar deal.

1. First Drive: 2011 Nissan Juke

The 2011 Nissan Juke may be an oddly-shaped transportation vessel, but its unique styling and turbocharged engine make it a specimen worth taking a second look at. Our first drive of the Juke pulled in more visits than any other article throughout the year, perhaps because it appeals to the much-coveted web-savvy demographic that automakers are intent on courting.
