Audi R8 V-8 Limited Edition Celebrates 10th Le Mans Win, Only 100 to be Built

#Audi, #R8

Audi has been on a roll the past decade at the 24 Hours of Le Mans; this year, the automakers made its 10th title and is ready to celebrate with a new model. That car is the R8 V-8 Limited Edition, only 100 of which will be available to U.K. customers.

We saw this one coming, as Audi announced in April that it was planning more market-specific special edition models. The new R8 V-8 Limited Edition will stand out from the crowd with its titanium silver paint color, titanium 19-inch “Y-spoke” wheels, and red brake calipers. All regular R8 paint colors will remain available, but the titanium silver hue is an option unique to the Limited Edition only.

Inside, the R8 Limited Edition differentiates itself with a black Nappa leather-covered steering wheel and seats with crimson read accents, contrasting stitching, and instrument panel surround. The door handles have also been dressed in red and silver R8 logos are sprinkled around the cabin. Stainless steel pedals and door sills add a touch of brightwork to the red-and-black cabin.

Extra content bundled with the Limited Edition treatment includes standard satellite radio, Audi’s Music Interface (for iPod connectivity), an interior lighting package, a Bang and Olufsen sound system, and Bluetooth with seat belt-integrated microphones. Also standard is Audi’s magnetic ride control suspension.

What the Limited Edition package doesn’t add is power. The car uses the same 430-hp 4.2-liter V-8 as the base R8, and can be ordered with either a six-speed manual or with Audi’s 7-speed automated-manual R-tronic transmission. The price on entry for the lucky 100 buyers is a cool £93,935 -- or $150,371, at current exchange rates. That is actually a good deal, as a comparably-equipped R8 runs close to £100,755 ($161,288).

Orders for the R8 V-8 Limited Edition begin next month, with the first models slated to reach U.K. dealerships in October.
