Aston Martin V12 Vantage Officially Headed to the Americas in Fourth Quarter

Back in February, Aston Martin was reportedly set to bring its V12 Vantage to the Americas after previously designing it as a European exclusive. Now, we have official word from the British automaker that the V-12-powered Vantage will be on this side of the Atlantic later this year in Carbon Black guise.

You just don’t find too many 12-cylinder powerplants in the United States anymore, and the V12 Vantage contains one of them. The 6.0-liter V-12, borrowed from the 007-erific DBS, produces 510 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, helping propel the smaller Aston Martin from 0-62 mph in 4.2 seconds and hit a top speed of 190 mph. Combine the power with the striking Aston Martin body, nimbler handling, the unmistakable V-12 howl, and it creates a package highly sought after here in the States.

"This is the ultimate performance interpretation of the Vantage range, combining our most agile model with our most powerful engine," said Dr. Ulrich Bez, Aston Martin CEO. "It represents the definitive Aston Martin driving experience, providing spectacular performance to ensure a dynamically thrilling drive in a highly exclusive package."

Originally intended for European consumption only, Aston Martin had to rework the V12 Vantage’s front end to meet federal crash standards in the U.S.

In the Americas, the limited Carbon Black edition will feature gloss-black, 10-spoke alloy wheels, a bright finished front grille, and standard front parking sensors. Inside, the Obsidian Black leather swathes its lucky owners while a 700-watt sound system engulfs the senses.

The V12 Vantage is built in Gaydon, Warwickshire, alongside the V8 Vantage and larger DBS and DB9 models. V12 Vantage pricing is expected in the coming weeks as the model prepares to go on sale stateside in the fourth quarter of 2010.
