While other Fiat divisions -- notably Abarth and Lancia -- unveiled their plans for the 2010 Geneva motor show, Alfa Romeo simply provided us with new picturesa of its Giulietta, but no new information.
The lack of new info hardly has us flummoxed. Alfa spilled most of the beans surrounding this car months ago, and frankly, it’s more fun to ogle this shapely hatchback. Giulietta is certainly a pretty name for a pretty car, but what’s in a name? It would look just as attractive if it bore the “Milano” nameplate as Alfa once intended.
Underneath the MiTo-esque styling, the Giulietta will ride on Fiat’s new C-Evo platform, which will also underpin a number of new Chrysler, Jeep, and Dodge compact offerings in the years to come. Gas engines in the Giulietta include a 120- and 170-hp 1.4-liter I-4, but enthusiasts will likely want to wait for the Quadrifoglio Verde model, which will use a 1.8-liter turbocharged I-4 good for 235 hp.
We’ll hopefully have some new information and photographs of the Giulietta after we see it in person at next week’s Geneva motor show. Until then, enjoy the photos…
