AC Schnitzer Takes On BMW's 2013 6 Series Gran Coupe

#BMW, #640i

It was only a matter of time until tuners got their hands on BMW's voluptuous new 6 Series Gran Coupe. German BMW tuner AC Schnitzer left well enough alone, and performed only minor performance and cosmetic enhancements to transform the 640i and 640d Gran Coupes into the ACS6 Gran Coupe.

AC Schnitzer stared by applying a modest power bump, boosting the 3.0-liter turbo-sixes up to 360 hp in both cars, an increase of 40 hp in the 640i and 47 hp in the 640d. Aural performance has also been upgraded with a set of chrome sports trim tailpipes, while a new spring kit for the suspension should help liven the driving experience. AC also swapped out the stock front brake calipers up front for eight-piston high-performance assemblies.

Aesthetic changes were also kept to a minimum – a refreshing change, given some of the garish designs to emerge from German tuning houses as of late. The ACS6 Gran Coupe gains the addition of a front spoiler with chrome trim, chromed kidney grilles, and a revised rear diffuser. Six wheel styles are available for the 6er, varying between 19 and 21 inches, all of which are decked out in some combination of black and silver in a five-spoke layout. The optional lightweight forged wheels come wrapped in 255/30 R 21 tires up front and 295/25 R 21 rear. Inside, the only updates AC Schnitzer made to the already-gorgeous interior is a new "EVO" three-spoke steering wheel, velour floormats, and black-accented aluminum trim for the pedals and iDrive controller.

Pricing has yet to be announced for the ACS6 Gran Coupe, but expect it to be a European-only affair.
