A 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan wearing less camouflage than we've seen before has been spotted along with another fully-covered prototype. The redesigned C-Class will be the fourth new or redesigned Mercedes sedan in the stable after the CLA-, E-, and S-Class four-doors arrive.
With the all-new CLA heading to showrooms, the C-Class will grow to better split the difference between the new entry-level model and the redesigned E-Class. Though more traditional looking than the swoopy CLA, the new C-Class has a more arcing greenhouse and shorter trunk compared to the current model. Out back, S-Class-esque taillights peek out from behind the camouflage.
The production-spec C-Class sedan is expected to appear at the 2014 Detroit auto show and go sale next summer, while coupe and a new convertible body style will go on sale in early 2015. The next C-Class gets a revised powertrain lineup that may include a Nissan-built 2.0-liter turbo I-4, as well as a diesel engine (probably the GLK250 Bluetec's 2.1-liter turbodiesel I-4) and a hybrid model. Mercedes all-wheel-drive system will also be available.
Mercedes will build the next-generation C-Class alongside M-, GL-, and R-Class SUVs in its Tuscaloosa, Alabama production plant - the first time the C-Class will be built in the U.S.
