2015 Kia Sedona Spied Again

Kia’s Sedona may not be the most exciting vehicle in its lineup, but the minivan is slated for a major overhaul for 2015. Our spy shooters recently caught the 2015 Kia Sedona out testing with a lot less camouflage than the one we saw two weeks ago, revealing much more of the Sedona’s overall shape and profile.

Unsurprisingly, the Sedona doesn’t look to bring a styling revolution to the minivan class, but the van does display clean lines that should fall in step with Kia’s recent styling direction led by former Audi designer Peter Schreyer. Up front, the Sedona features Kia’s corporate grille design flanked by swoopy headlights that appear to have LED inserts similar to those on the 2014 Kia Cadenza. The profile of the 2015 Sedona mimics the Honda Odyssey with a slight kink in the character line by the C-pillar, and the roofline tapers with this rising beltline to create a wedge-like profile in the rear. The taillights are also similar in shape to those on the Cadenza, which are themselves inspired by the Audi A6 and A8. Overall, the Sedona should give Kia’s minivan a more upscale look than the bland second-generation van that was introduced in 2006 and slightly revised in 2014.

We assume the new Sedona’s interior will also move upscale like other Kia’s like the Forte and Optima have as of late. The 2015 Kia Sedona will most likely be powered by a V-6 engine like the current model; one likely possibility is the 3.3-liter direct-injection V-6 from the Kia Cadenza and Sorento. Keep an eye out for the 2015 Kia Sedona next year when it makes its official debut.

Say what? The Honda has a dip down in the character line while the Kia mimics the concept with step up in the beltline. It looks substantially better than the now bloated Chrysler vans. I hope they do not offer an extended wheel base version as mini-vans long ago stopped being mini:) And, given a choice, I still would prefer the new Carens (Rondo) which is basically a fluidic styled, 18" longer Kia Soul that has both passenger space and cargo space; while using the same 164 hp GDI I-4 engine.
