The 2015 Hyundai Sonata shed even more of its disguise in these latest spy shots of the car around the Nurburgring racetrack in Germany. The new shots show that the mid-size sedan’s 2015 update will be more evolutionary than revolutionary, although it will advance from Hyundai's current "fluidic sculpture" design language to the more mature "fluidic precision" styling.
We can now see the 2015 Hyundai Sonata’s updated grille shape, which looks to be less prominent than the current model’s in-your-face chrome grille design. The headlights also look to be smaller as they taper to the corners of the grille. Viewed from the profile, the rising character line remains on this new design and the overall greenhouse shape is similar to the current Sonata. In the rear, the new taillights look to be LEDs, which, along with the rumored LED headlights, should lend a more modern look to the Sonata.
We’ve previously reported that the 2015 Hyundai Sonata should continue to feature an all four-cylinder lineup, but a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder may replace the standard 2.4-liter four in the current base Sonata. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder should carry over for 2015, and the hybrid powertrain is likely to stick around as well. We expect the 2015 Hyundai Sonata to make its debut at the 2014 Detroit auto show.
