Toyota announced pricing for the 2014 Yaris subcompact. Prices go up by $60 across the board on all trim levels, a 0.4 percent increase. The Yaris now starts at $15,225 after a $725 destination charge.

Other than pricing, the only change for 2014 is that all Yaris hatchbacks will be equipped with daytime running lights as standard equipment.

The 2014 Toyota Yaris is available in three- and five-door hatchback models. Trim levels range from base L, to midlevel LE, and “sporty” SE. All Yaris models are equipped with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine producing 106 hp. Transmission choices include a five-speed manual, standard on the three-door L and five-door SE models, and a four-speed automatic, optional for the three-door L and five-door SE and standard on all other 2014 Yaris models.

Competing in the subcompact hatchback segment, the Yaris was redesigned for the 2012 model year and goes up against models such as the 2013 Hyundai Accent, the 2013 Honda Fit, the 2013 Kia Rio, the 2013 Chevrolet Sonic, the refreshed 2014 Ford Fiesta, and the newly introduced 2014 Nissan Versa Note. Many of these competitors offer higher highway fuel economy ratings thanks to their more advanced transmission options compared to the Yaris’ four-speed automatic. The Yaris does compete on price, though, with only the Rio and the Versa Note undercutting the base price of the Toyota.

The 2014 Yaris went into production June 3 and goes on sale at the end of July. Check out how it stacks up on price, fuel economy, and cargo space in the chart below.
