2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid Priced at $26,820

The 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid is the brand’s first-ever hybrid model, and Subaru has just announced pricing starting at $26,820 with destination. This is $4000 higher than the base price of the regular XV Crosstrek, which starts at $22,820 when equipped with the standard five-speed manual transmission.

The 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder boxer engine mated with a 13 hp electric motor that is integrated into the one-choice-only CVT. The XV Crosstrek Hybrid, like all U.S.-market Subarus save for the BRZ sports coupe, comes standard with Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel-drive with an active torque split system. We don’t yet know fuel economy for the XV Crosstrek Hybrid, but we expect a significant improvement over the 25/33/28 mpg city/highway/combined ratings of the standard XV Crosstrek when equipped with a CVT, meaning that the hybrid should top 30 mpg in combined mileage.

On the outside, the 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid is differentiated from the standard model with clear LED taillights, a new wheel design, and assorted hybrid badging. Inside, the hybrid gains a new instrument cluster and a hybrid-exclusive 4.3-inch LCD screen inside that can show a hybrid energy flow diagram.

The 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid is available in two trim levels: Premium and Touring. Compared with the standard XV Crosstrek Premium, the XV Crosstrek Hybrid Premium model adds keyless access and pushbutton start, automatic climate control, the aforementioned LCD display, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. On top of this, the $30,120 Touring model gains navigation, leather seats, and a moonroof.

The 2014 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid will go on sale later in 2013, and look for official EPA fuel economy ratings to crop up before then.
