It hasn't been long since we first saw the 2014 Range Rover Sport, but the car already has a price and, today, a configurator website. Next stop: showroom floors.
As we reported last month, the 2014 Range Rover Sport starts at $63,495 when it goes on sale late this summer. That 64 grand gets you a sport utility vehicle powered by Jaguar's 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 engine--which makes 340 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque--mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a single-speed transfer case. The V-6 models are available in base SE or mid-level HSE trim, which starts at $68,495. Customers can also add a 5.0-liter supercharged V-8 engine (making 510 hp and 461 lb-ft of torque) in either the Supercharged ($79,995) or Autobiography ($93,295) models.
While leather seats are standard, SE customers can add front and rear heated seats, a heated steering wheel, and a heated windshield for $2100 (the package also includes foglamps and adaptive Xenon headlights with automatic high beams). Range Rover Sport HSE customers can upgrade their standard front heated seats to heated/cooled seats and add rear heated seats for $1980, or skip ahead to four heated/cooled seats (with individual HVAC zones) for $3545.
One notable option that's a must-have for any Jaguar/Land Rover customer: the optional Meridian sound system. SE, HSE, and Supercharged models have the $1950 option of a 19-speaker, 825-watt sound system--the same one we've seen in cars like the Jaguar XF and XJ, and the Range Rover Evoque. That stereo is standard on Autobiography models, but Range Rover offers another option--a 23 speaker, 1700-watt system, which costs $6300 on Supercharged and $4450 on Autobiography models. Other options include a two-speed transfer case ($1300 on V-6 models), a third-row seat ($2000 for just the seats or $3100 for seats with an added zone for the automatic climate control).
At $63,495 for a base SE model, the Range Rover Sport is a bit dearer than its base competitors, including the BMW X5 Premium ($56,095) and Porsche Cayenne ($53,575). Then again, the $79,995 Supercharged model is much less expensive than its German competitors: the X5 M starts at $89,745, and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo will run you a cool $111,375.
Take a look at the configurator here and tell us which model you'd choose.
