The Nissan Maxima is due to be replaced next year, but the large sedan carries on with a few equipment changes for 2014.
The 2014 Nissan Maxima is available in two trim levels: 3.5 S and 3.5 SV. Both are equipped with Nissan’s 3.5-liter V-6 which pairs with a CVT in this application and makes 290 hp and 261 lb-ft of torque. The 3.5 S trim starts at $31,810 with destination, unchanged from 2013, and includes standard equipment such as keyless entry, a moonroof, power seats, and Bluetooth. A $750 Limited Edition package for 3.5 S models is new for 2014 which adds smoked headlight glass, xenon headlights, a compass, 18-inch dark silver wheels, a rear spoiler, fog lights, and metallic trim.
The uplevel trim is the Maxima 3.5 SV, which gains new equipment for 2014 to justify its $850 price increase to $34,900 with destination. A backup camera, USB connectivity, a 7-inch color infotainment screen, satellite radio, and xenon headlights are now standard on the SV trim. Two new colors are also available for 2014 on all Nissan Maxima models: Gun Metallic and Midnight Garnet.
Option packages for the SV include the $2850 Premium Package (including a panoramic sunroof, power rear sunshade, climate-controlled driver’s seat, wood trim, and a Bose audio system); the $750 SV Value Package (including a Bose audio system, heated seats and steering wheel, and more); the $2000 Sport Package (including a sport suspension, 19-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, dark finish grille and headlights, metallic interior trim, heated memory seats, and a leather-wrapped shift knob and steering wheel); and
the $1150 Tech Package (with a navigation system, Bluetooth streaming audio, and traffic information support).
The 2014 Nissan Maxima is a slightly dated entry in the large sedan segment, which has seen numerous redesigns lately like the 2013 Toyota Avalon, the 2013 Hyundai Azera, and the 2014 Chevrolet Impala. A new Maxima should debut sometime next year, and early concept sketches show a daring shape that should move the Nissan Maxima more upscale than the current model.
