Mercedes has just released a great way for enthusiasts everywhere to waste five minutes -- with the new 2014 CLA250 build-your-own feature. Complete with full pricing and options, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 configurator shows how you can option-up a $30,825 four-door to just below the starting price of the CLA45 AMG.

The base-model 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 is offered in 10 colors. White, black, and red are free, though five metallic shades cost $720. A special Designo Patagonia Red Metallic will set you back $1750, while the automaker also offers a silver matte paint option for $2500. The $2000 sport package that includes a body kit, 18-inch five-spoke wheels, upgraded brakes, and eye-catching chrome diamond-block grille accents. A panoramic sunroof costs $1480, and Mercedes offers HID headlights with LED taillights in an $850 package.

If you want real leather instead of MB-Tex, a $1500 package includes leather seats, MB-Tex interior trim, and infrared-remote window opening and closing. Trim options include silver Antracite, Aluminum, Burl Walnut wood ($325), and Black Ash ($325). The $2200 Premium package adds dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, an upgraded sound system, and auto-dimming rear rearview and driver’s side mirrors. We’re guessing most buyers will go for the $2370 Multimedia package, which includes a rearview camera, navigation system with a seven-inch display, in-dash six-disc CD player, and satellite-radio-based traffic and weather info. Those who want a navigation system without all the other stuff can select the Becker MAP PILOT, a system that works with the standard 5.8-inch display and costs $800 including pre-wiring.

A blind spot monitoring system is $550, and an active parking system that can steer and brake the car into a space is $970. A Driver Assistance package combines adaptive cruise control, a lane departure warning system, and blind spot monitoring for $2500. Even at $47,520, a mostly loaded 2014 Mercedes CLA250 falls just under the $48,375 2014 CLA45 AMG.

Every CLA250 comes with a 208-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 with 258 lb-ft, engine stop-start, 14-way power front seats, and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. An all-wheel-drive option arrives in spring 2014.

If you use a bit more discretion with the options list, a $39,940 CLA250 could include metallic paint, HID headlights and LED taillights, the leather interior package, heated front seats, a harman/kardon sound system, rear-view camera, navigation system, six-disc CD player, and the Sport package.
