The newest member of the AMG performance stable, the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG, will cost $48,375, after a $925 destination charge. The turbocharged, all-wheel-drive four-door goes on sale this November.
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG was introduced earlier this year at the New York auto show. It has a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine good for 355 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque, along with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive. Mercedes predicts a 0-to-60-mph time of 4.5 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 155 mph.
Mercedes also announced a handful of options for the CLA45 AMG. Adding metallic paint costs $720, carbon fiber interior trim is $950, a panoramic sunroof adds $1480 to the sticker price, a Becker Map Pilot navigation system is $800, and an upgraded infotainment system costs $2300.
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG becomes the cheapest car in the AMG model range. The next step up is the Mercedes C63 AMG, which commands $60,705 as a sedan and $63,235 as a coupe, after $905 destination charges, followed by the $68,895 SLK55 AMG roadster.
The 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG is also considerably more expensive than other turbocharged, all-wheel-drive performance cars with similar power. The 256-hp Volkswagen Golf R starts at $34,990, after a $795 destination charge; the 305-hp Subaru WRX STI is $35,065, including a $770 delivery fee; and the 291-hp Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution costs $35,490, after a $795 destination charge.
The standard 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA250, which has a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine rated for 208 hp, costs $30,825 after a $925 destination charge.
