2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 Rated at 38 MPG Highway

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 will not only become the most affordable Mercedes in the when it goes on sale in the U.S. later this year, but also the second most efficient behind the diesel E250 Bluetec. The EPA has rated the front-wheel-drive CLA250 at 26/38/30 mpg city/highway/combined.

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 208 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The only transmission option is a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. These impressive mileage ratings put the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 near the top of the entry-level luxury class, with only the 2014 Lexus CT200h hybrid beating the CLA’s rating with its numbers of 43/40/42 mpg city/highway/combined. Other competitors like the 2014 BMW 320i and the 2014 Acura TSX have lower ratings of 24/36 mpg and 22/31 mpg city/highway, respectively. New competitors will hit the scene within the next few months, though, with the 2014 Audi A3 sedan coming to the U.S. in early 2014and a possible new Infiniti compact based on the Q30 Concept coming within the next year.

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 starts at $30,825 with destination. The performance-oriented CLA45 AMG will arrive by the end of the year, and a CLA250 4Matic all-wheel-drive model will be on sale by early 2014. The CLA’s four-door-coupe styling is supposed to imitate the larger Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class, and will be the first front-wheel-drive Mercedes-Benz model ever sold in the U.S.
