The 2014 Mazda CX-9 crossover will start at $30,780, including destination, when it goes on sale later this year, Mazda said today in a statement. After the 2013 Mazda CX-9 received a substantial face lift, including a new Kodo-inspired front fascia, the crossover has only minor changes for this model year. There is a new 20-inch wheel design, and Jet Black Mica and Blue Reflex Mica paint colors replace Brilliant Black and Dolphin Gray.
All versions of the 2014 Mazda CX-9 come with a 3.7-liter V-6 and a six-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and adding all-wheel drive bumps up the sticker by $1590. Opting for Mazda's special Crystal White Pearl Mica paint costs $200 on any version.
The aforementioned base price affords a 2014 Mazda CX-9 Sport front-wheel drive, on top of which buyers can pay $690 to add a power driver's seat, heated front seats, and heated mirrors. Moving up to the Touring trim level costs $33,275 and adds goodies like heated mirrors, automatic headlights, heated front seats, leather upholstery, a backup camera, rear parking sensors, and blind spot and rear cross-traffic warnings. The $3000 Touring Technology package adds a 10-speaker Bose audio system, fog lights, push-button start, navigation, a power moonroof, satellite radio, and a power liftgate.
The final tier for the 2014 Mazda CX-9 is the Grand Touring, which costs $35,830 with front-wheel drive. On top of the Touring model, it adds 20-inch wheels, chrome door handles, fog lights, automatic HID headlights, LED running lights, a power liftgate, push-button start, and a special armrest with cupholders for the second row of seats. The $2435 GT Technology package adds navigation, a 10-speaker Bose audio system, a power moonroof, and satellite radio. The $3245 Rear Seat Entertainment System package (which cannot be optioned at the same time as the GT Tech pack) bundles an 11-speaker Bose audio system, a nine-inch DVD player screen, navigation, satellite radio, and a 115-volt power outlet. Finally, the $100 Towing Prep option adds a 3500-pound tow rating, reprogrammed engine computer, transmission cooler, and heavy duty radiator fan. It is only available on front-wheel-drive GT models, as the prep package is standard on the all-wheel-drive CX-9 GT.
Reports indicate that an all-new version of the Mazda CX-9, possibly powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, will debut in two years' time as a 2016 model.
