2014 Lexus IS F Starts At $64,260, Still No Official Photos

The 2014 Lexus IS got a comprehensive makeover giving the car a sharper look and driving experience. Critical reception to the improvements were generally positive, with the new IS standing up well against formidable new competitors such as the F30 BMW 3 Series and the Cadillac ATS. Conspicuously absent from the first round of announced 2014 IS updates were anything relating to the high-horse IS F model. Rumors started to run rampant that that hot-rod IS had gotten the axe. But Lexus has announced official pricing for the carryover 2014 Lexus IS F, starting at $64,260, including a slightly higher $910 destination, bringing the increase to $1615 over the 2013 IS F. Most other 2014 Lexus models received a modest $100 increase in MSRP.

Now standard on the 2014 IS F (based on the outgoing IS) is black alcantara trim on the doors and center console cover, and black semi-aniline leather seats replace black alcantara- and leather-trimmed seats. The headrests are now embossed with the "F" logo, and the red leather seats get black alcantara inserts and black leather headrests. On sale in October, the carryover 2014 IS F also benefits from LED foglights (the bulbs are now LEDs) and there's a carbon fiber rear spoiler. Three-pedal purists may decry the dropping of the six-speed manual option on the IS 250, but the option had a minimal take rate. All 2014 IS models get paddle shifters as a consolation prize. 2014 IS 350 rear-drive models get an eight-speed automatic, something the V-8-powered IS F has had since its introduction in 2008.

The other 2014 IS models didn't get any major power bumps, and with 416 hp, nobody has accused the IS F of being underpowered, so expect the powertrain to largely carry over into the high-performance car's next generation, with some possible improvements in calibration and responsiveness.
