Minor updates to its aerodynamic components and powertrain calibration allows the 2014 Ford Fiesta to achieve 41 mpg on the highway, with the optional Super Fuel Economy package. That's up from 40 mpg for the 2013 model; the Fiesta SFE's city rating also inches up from 29 to 30 mpg.
The SFE package is offered on the 2014 Ford Fiesta SE sedan and hatchback, but only with the car's optional six-speed dual-clutch transmission. It includes low rolling-resistance tires, unique aerodynamic parts, and underbody shielding that reduce the car's aerodynamic drag.
Fuel economy ratings for versions of the 2014 Ford Fiesta without the SFE pack are unchanged. The car returns 29/39 mpg (city/highway) with either the five-speed manual transmission or six-speed dual-clutch.
Changes for the 2014 Ford Fiesta include a facelift with a new front fascia that mimics the wide-mouth grille of the Fusion, updated interior trim, the availability of options like the MyFord Touch infotainment system, automatic climate control, and the MyKey parental control feature. Later this year, Ford will introduce the high-performance Fiesta ST, and a thriftier model with a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine.
Pricing for the 2014 Ford Fiesta S sedan starts at $14,795 (after a $795 destination charge). The Fiesta SE sedan is $16,245, and the Fiesta Titanium sedan costs $18,995. Hatchback models of each trim level cost $600 more. The 2014 Ford Fiesta is on sale now.
