Even though pricing information isn't included, a new online tool allows prospective buyers to configure the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pickup of their dreams. The build-your-own feature lets users pick colors, wheels, trim levels, and more on the refreshed version of Chevrolet's big truck.
As per usual with all pickup trucks, the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado can be configured in myriad different ways. The online tool first lets buyers choose between rear- or four-wheel drive, then from the six trim levels of ascending equipment levels. The base, Work Truck 1, has little more than an AM/FM radio and cruise control; the top-spec Z71 LTZ trim level includes chrome trim, leather upholstery, power front seats, and a Z71-specific suspension. In addition, users can choose body style and box length, and from a variety of wheel and color options.
Powertrain options will comprise a 4.3-liter V-6, a 5.3-liter V-8, and a 6.2-liter V-8, all backed by a six-speed automatic transmission. There are no hybrid variants, and V-8 engines are aluminum with features like cylinder deactivation to reduce consumption.
After clicking and dragging to create the ideal truck, users can click to download a photo of their future vehicle. While Chevrolet posits that this is for sharing with friends, it's equally likely the photos will be used to inform dealers of a customer's preferred pickup configuration. Interested truck buyers will have to wait, however, as production of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado doesn't start until the second quarter of this year.
