2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Rated at 28 MPG with Automatic Transmission

We already know that the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with the seven-speed manual transmission will achieve 29 mpg on the highway, and now the EPA has released fuel economy numbers for 2014 Corvette models equipped with the optional six-speed automatic transmission.

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray automatic has an EPA rating of 16/28/20 mpg city/highway combined, which is one mpg lower in each category compared with the manual transmission model. It’s still impressive for the amount of power that the Corvette makes thanks to its 6.2-liter V-8 engine: up to 460 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, to be exact.

Unlike the manual transmission-equipped 2014 Corvette, automatic transmission models are not equipped with Chevy’s Active Fuel Management system, which can disable four of the eight cylinders when cruising or under light throttle. Still, even the automatic model trounces competitors like the 2014 Audi R8 V-8’s 23 mpg highway rating and sneaks by the 2014 Porsche 911 Carrera S’ 27 mpg highway rating.

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is on sale now starting at $51,995 with destination. The six-speed automatic transmission is a $1350 option on all Corvette models and also comes with paddle shifters and a remote start system. The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible, which arrives in dealerships by the end of this year, will start at $56,995 with destination.

Base Price (w/ dest.) Std. Output Fuel Economy (city/highway)

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray (automatic) $53,345 455 hp 16/28 mpg
2014 Audi R8 V8 (automatic) $116,150 430 hp 14/23 mpg
2014 Porsche 911 Carrera S (automatic) $99,850 400 hp 19/27 mpg
