Vehicle reveals can happen anywhere these days, as morning talk show Live With Kelly and Michael proved today with the surprise unveiling of the refreshed 2014 Chevrolet Camaro. The TV hosts took the wraps off to show the car’s revised styling in advance of the official press conference tomorrow at the New York auto show.
If you’re not a fan of the current-generation Camaro yet, this refreshed model probably won’t change your mind. The headlights and grille appear narrower, and the front valance opening has been widened. A row of vents is placed in the center of the hood for a ZL1-esque look. The big news is the Camaro’s rear end, which might raise a few eyebrows among Camaro fans. In place of the outgoing model’s quad-square taillights are two rectangular lamps. Though the rear end look may have been controversial before, the taillights were one of the Camaro’s most characteristic features. Around the office, comparisons to the first-gen Lexus SC and last-gen Honda Prelude were thrown around.
The show also revealed the 2014 Camaro lineup, which doesn’t appear to have changed. We’ll reserve judgment until we see it on the show floor tomorrow, but what do you think of the refreshed Camaro? Is it an improvement or a step backward? At any rate, detractors of the C7 Corvette can’t complain that car looks like a Camaro from behind anymore.
