We already knew that the 2014 Cadillac XTS was getting a number of important updates, including an all-new, twin-turbocharged V-6 option. Now we know how much those updates will cost: according to the automaker, the base price for a 2014 Cadillac XTS is $45,525 (including destination), but the twin-turbocharged 2014 XTS Vsport model is priced from $63,020.

The $45,525 starting price of the 2014 Cadillac XTS represents an increase of $530 over the 2013 XTS. The standard powerplant for the 2014 XTS remains a 3.6-liter V-6 rated at 305 hp and 264 lb-ft of torque. That engine is paired with a six-speed automatic and front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is a $1805 option. Trim levels build from the base XTS to the Luxury Collection ($50,435), to the Premium Collection ($55,380), to the Platinum Collection ($62,675). The range-topping model is now the new 2014 XTS Vsport, which comes in either Premium ($63,020) or Platinum ($70,020) trim levels. The XTS Vsport is equipped with all-wheel drive as standard, a six-speed automatic, and the brand's new twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V-6, which pumps out 410 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.

While the price tag for the top-of-the-line 2014 XTS Vsport Platinum might sound awfully pricey, it's worth noting that to get that kind of power requires stepping up to the more-expensive German competition. Priced similarly to the 2014 XTS Vsport, the BMW 550i xDrive and Mercedes-Benz E550 4Matic may offer more-prestigious badges, but are down eight and 10 hp from the Cadillac, respectively; however, the Audi S6 starts at about $2000 more than the XTS Vsport and offers an additional 10 hp and 37 lb-ft. Compared to the available forced-induction V-6s in the class, the XTS Vsport far and away has the most power – the Lincoln MKS' twin-turbo 3.5-liter is good for 365 hp and the Audi A6's supercharged 3.0-liter makes just 310 hp. The base engine in the 2014 Cadillac XTS is also the second-most-powerful in its class, trailing only the 310-hp Acura RLX.

The 2014 Cadillac XTS Livery model, which is aimed at fleet and commercial customers, is priced from $46,725.

The 2014 Cadillac XTS goes on sale later this summer. Check out how the XTS and XTS Vsport shape up against its competition in the chart below.
