The redesigned 2014 Acura MDX will begin arriving in dealerships in July, and the Japanese automaker has just announced pricing details on the three-row luxury crossover. For $43,185, buyers can get behind the wheel of a front-drive MDX for $43,185, and into the all-wheel drive variant for $45,185.
The base price of an all-wheel-drive MDX has increased by $1010, but the new Acura's front-drive model reduces the entry-level price by $990. The automaker's Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system is a $2000 option on all trim levels. New features on the base SH-AWD model includes a push-start button, Acura's Jewel Eye LED headlights, a second-row seat that reclines and slides back, AcuraLink, an eight-inch touch screen, rearview camera, and premium 432-watt audio system.
Higher up the line is the 2014 MDX with the Technology package trim level, which increases the price to $47,460 and $49,460 for front-drive and all-wheel drive models, respectively. Features such as 19-inch wheels, puddle lamps, navigation, forward collision warning, lane departure warning are added. The 2014 MDX with Technology and Entertainment packages starts at $49,460 and $51,460 for front-drive and all-wheel-drive models.
The top-of-the-line MDX with the Advance package further equips the SUV with lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, remote engine start, and a 16.2-inch DVD rear entertainment system with HDMI connectivity. All this can be had for $55,400, and $2000 more for models wearing the SH-AWD badge.
All 2014 MDX crossovers get a 290-hp 3.5-liter V-6 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Although it's down on power and torque compared to the outgoing MDX's 300-hp 3.7-liter V-6, the new model lugs around about 275 fewer pounds, which equates to 6-7 mpg more on the highway. The 2014 MDX is EPA-rated at 18/27 mpg city/highway with SH-AWD and 20/28 mpg with the new front-drive model. Subtle changes have been made to the sheetmetal of the 2014 MDX, which rides on a stretched wheelbase.
Once the 2014 Acura MDX goes on sale, it should regain its position as the best-selling Acura; through the first four months of this year the RDX has held that title.
