2013 Chevrolet Malibu Launches In Korea

To say the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu is an important vehicle for Chevy is an understatement. Not only is the Malibu Chevy's latest chance to wrest the sales crown from the Toyota Camry here in the U.S, the car will also serve as Chevy's midsize offering in several markets across the globe. In fact, the car will launch shortly  in Korea, despite the fact it has yet to launch here in the U.S.

As Chevrolet’s first true global midsize sedan, the Malibu officially starts production this month at GM Korea’s Bupyeong manufacturing facility, and will hit Korean showrooms on November 1. While some might question why Chevrolet chose to launch the 2013 Malibu in Korea before the United States, the move isn’t unprecedented. Chevy’s first global car, the Cruze ) debuted in Korea first, and then made its way to China, Europe, and Australia before it landed in America.

Unlike the prolonged global roll-out of the Cruze, we should be seeing the new Malibu rather soon. GM says the new Malibu will go on sale in the U.S. in early February a 2013 model. The first Malibu to hit U.S. showrooms will be the 2013 Malibu ECO mild-hybrid.
