2013 Audi A8 4.0T Detailed, S6/S7/S8 and S5 Coupe Priced

A large chunk of Audi’s portfolio has been updated – be it by way of a face lift, a new engine, or a full revision – for the 2013 model year. We’ve known many of the details for some time, but the automaker just released some new pricing information, namely for the 2013 A8 4.0T sedan, and the performance-oriented S5 3.0T coupe, S6, S7, and S8. Audi will be finally ditching its venerable 4.2-liter V-8 for all but the R8 and RS5 sports cars. As such, the flagship A8 sedan will trade the 4.2-liter for a new twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8. In the A8, the 4.0T will be rated at 420 hp and 444 lb-ft of torque. The new eight-cylinder will slot in nicely between the new V-6-powered A8 3.0T and the high-performance S8, as the 4.0T makes the run from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds, versus 5.5 for the 3.0T and 3.9 for the S8. Compared with the outgoing V-8, the 2013 A8 4.0T is about $2170 more expensive, as it carries a base price of $81,795, including destination. The long-wheelbase model runs $6300 more, while the sportiest S8 -- with its 520-hp variant of the 4.0-liter V-8 -- starts at $110,895. The A8 4.0T will be available at the end of the summer and the S8 hits dealerships this fall. The other two new S-performance models for 2013 – the S6 and S7 – share the A8 4.0T's twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8, rated here at 420 hp and 406 lb-ft. Pricing begins at $72,795 for the S6 sedan and $79,695 for the S7, some $29,700 and $18,700 over the base prices of the A6 and A7, respectively. Both the S6 and S7 will arrive at U.S. showrooms this fall. Updated (but not all new) for 2013 is the S5 coupe. Compared with 2012, the 2013 S5 has revised front and rear fascias, an updated interior, and the same 3.0-liter supercharged V-6 from the S4 sedan and S5 cabriolet. Despite not having the same burble as the outgoing naturally-aspriated 4.2-liter V-8, the supercharged 3.0T produces 333 hp and 325 lb-ft. The 2013 S5 3.0T is on sale now and starts at $51,795 with destination for a Premium-Plus-trim, manual-transmission car. The seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch gearbox is a $1400 option. Buyers can also pony up $58,395 for the S5 Prestige model, which adds things like passive keyless entry, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, and a Google-Earth-powered navigation system.
