2012 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque On Sale this Fall for $43,995

The littlest new Land Rover goes on sale in the U.S. this fall, but until now, we’d yet to see a finalized price tag for the compact luxury SUV. The 2012 Range Rover Evoque will be priced from $43,995 (including destination) in five-door configuration, or $44,995 for the three-door model.

For that money, buyers get what Range Rover confidently calls its lightest ever model -- the Evoque tips the scale at just 3680 lbs in five-door trim. The American-spec version comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four-cylinder engine (sourced from Ford), which is good for 240 hp and 251 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic and Haldex all-wheel drive are standard.

The Evoque is far smaller than its burly brethren, and is intended to be a sportier, on-road crossover. It’s also intended to be quite stylish, and to that end, it it wears LED lighting, premium leather upholstery, and glitzy alloy wheels. Aluminum chassis components and plastic bodywork help keep weight down.

The company says the Evoque will run 0-to-60-mph in 7.1 seconds and manage a maximum velocity of 135 mph.Land Rover predicts fuel-economy ratings of 19/28 mpg (city/highway.) Rumors suggest a hybrid version will follow at a later date.

A true global model, the Evoque is set to go on sale in 160 different countries around the world. It will reach North American dealerships this fall.
