2010 Chevy Camaro to be Official Pacecar of the Daytona 500

Tom Ludwick

The 51st running of the Daytona 500 will feature a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro leading the pack as the official pace car. After a 40 year absence, the new Camaro will be the first to pace the Daytona 500 since 1969. It will be the third in company history to pace the "The Great American Race."

The car used will be a 2010 Camaro SS powered by a 426 horsepower V-8 engine. It will have a Cyber Grey paint scheme with a bold accent design befitting "The World Center of Racing."

The race will take place on February 15, 2009 at the Daytona International in Daytona Beach, Florida. Production of the 2010 Camaro is set to begin next month at GM's Oshawa, Ontario assembly plant.
